Balushahi- For Blog Hop Wednesday

Time for Blog Hop Wednesday. This week my partner is Saraswati of Saras's Kitchen. I picked Balushahis recipe from her blog because from the past few days my husband has been asking for home made Balushahis. When I was going through Sarawati's blog for Blog Hop, Balushahi's recipe appealed me to surprise my hubby. I tried her recipe with some modification and it was a hit. My hubby enjoyed alot which made me so happy.


    250 gm
Baking Powder
    1/4 tsp
Cooking Soda
    a pinch
    100 gm
Desi Ghee
    50 gm
    1 Cup
    For Deep Frying

1.  Mix APF, baking powder, cooking soda in a bowl.
2.  Add ghee and rub it with your fingers to make it crumble.
3.  Add curd and mix the dough very gently. Do not knead very much.
4.  Rest it for twenty min.
5.  Make small balls out of the mixture. Make a dent in the center of the ball by using thumb.
6.  Heat oil and fry these balls on low flame till it turns brown in color form both sides.
7.  Prepare sugar syrup of one string consistency. Add lime juice to it.
8.  Dip the balls in sugar syrup for thirty min..
9.  Remove the Balushahis from syrup. Transfer them on a serving plate. Garnish with chopped pistachios and cardamon powder and Serve...!!

Punjabi Dal Tadka

This Punjabi dish is really simple to prepare and great in taste. Serve this all time favorite to your family and guests and win the compliments.


Split Black Gram Dal Washed(Urad Dhuli)
    1 Cup
Onion (Large)
Small Ginger Piece
Flakes Garlic Chopped(optional)
Green Chillies
    1 Tbsp
Cumin Seeds
    1 tsp
Turmeric Powder
    1/2 tsp
Red Chilli Powder
    1/2 tsp
    2 Cups
Fresh Coriander Leaves
    1 tsp
Garam Masala
    1/4 tsp
    As Per Taste


  • Wash and soak dal for 20 min.. Drain the water. Now add turmeric powder, salt and MW for 2 min..
  •  For tempering, heat ghee in a pan for about one min.. Add cumin seeds, as the began to splutter add onions and fry till transparent. Add ginger and crushed garlic and continue frying till onion is golden brown.
  •  Add chilli powder, chopped tomatoes, green chilli and stir. Now add dal and mix very well.
  •  Remove pan from heat. Add garam masala and coriander leaves.
  •  Serve hot with roti and naan.

Cornflakes Bar

Its a home made snack bar with the goodness of honey which can make u feel full the entire day. So easy to make. So try and keep on MUNCHING!!!!


Crushed Corn Flakes
    4-5 Spoons
    2 Spoons
Powdered Sugar
    3 Spoons
Roasted and Coarsely Grinded Peanuts
    4-5 Spoons 
    3 Spoons
    2 Spoons

Mix butter, honey and powdered sugar in a nonstick pan. Switch on the fire. Add in crushed peanuts, cornflakes and raisins. Mix very well and cook for 3-4 min.. Stir constantly with the help of stapula. Switch off the fire.
Now transfer this mixture into a greased dish. Spread very well. Allow it to cool. Cut in pieces and serve...!!!

Karele Ki Chutney and Some Awards


Finely Chopped Bittergourd
    2 Medium
Tamarind Pulp
    1/2 Bowl
Grated Jaggery
    2-3 Spoons
Mustard Seeds
    1/2 tsp
    1 Tbsp + For Deep Frying
Washed Uradh Dal
    1/2 tsp
Curry Leaves
Coarsely Grinded Fennel Seeds
    1/2 tsp
Whole Red Chillies
    A Pinch
    1 inch Piece
    as per taste

To Make Tamarind Paste
Grind jaggery, ginger, green chili and tamarind pulp together in a grinder and keep aside.

Heat oil and deep fry the bittergourd pieces until golden brown in color and set aside.
Now heat 1 tsp oil in a pan. Add mustard seeds, as they begin to splutter add red chillies, uradh dal, fennel powder, asafoefida and curry leaves. Saute for 1 min.. 
Now add tamarind paste and mix very well. Saute it for 2-3 min. till the oil comes out. Add fried bittergourd pieces. Mix well. Add some water and salt and cook for a min..
 Karela Chutney is ready..Garnish with red chili powder and serve.

Poha Kebabs-For Blog Hop Wednesday

Today is the fourth Wednesday of Radhika's event. We all enjoying it a lot.
Today I am paired with Priya Vasu of Enveetu Kitchen. She has nice space with so many yummy and interesting dishes. You must visit her blog. I chose Poha Balls recipe from her blog. I replaced some ingredients according to my children's taste.


Poha/Rice Flakes
    1 Bowl
Boiled and Mashed Potato
    1 Bowl
Grated Paneer
    1 Bowl
Chopped Green Chili
Finely Chopped Ginger
    1 tsp
Coarsely Grinded Peanuts
    1 Tbsp
Finely Chopped Capsicum
    1 Medium
    1 tsp
Chaat Masala
    1 tsp
Fresh Coriander Leaves
    1 Tbsp
Red Chili Powder
    1/2 tsp
White Pepper Powder
    1/4 tsp
    For Deep Frying
    As Per Taste


  • Wash the poha in a strainer and set aside.
  •  Combine poha, mashed potatoes, paneer, peanuts, salt, chili powders, ginger, green chili, oregano, capsicum and fresh coriander in a mixing bowl.
  •  Mix very well. Check the seasoning.
  •  Now take a little amount of the mixture and shape into kebabs. Make other kebabs in the same way.
  •  Heat oil in a deep bottom pan and fry the kebabs on high flame till golden brown in color.
  •  Drain on an absorbent paper to remove excess oil.
  •  Serve hot with tamarind chutney..!!
